Online Therapy

All services are provided online in Tennessee through teletherapy (aka “telehealth,” “remote therapy,” or “online therapy”).

1125901610You only need to designate a time and space for therapy.

We’ll take care of the rest!

Our teletherapy sessions will take place over Google Meet or Doxy, both HIPAA-compliant meeting platforms. That means you don’t have to worry about online privacy or confidentiality. All you need is a device with a camera and an internet connection.

Many clients prefer teletherapy because they don’t have to spend extra time and energy out of their day driving to an office. That can be inconvenient. Plus, many people like staying in a safe, familiar place while working through difficult emotions.

Instead, you can do your sessions while you relax in the comfort of your home or office!

Privacy…

Sometimes people feel awkward coming to a therapist or are afraid they’ll encounter someone they know. Teletherapy eliminates that because you’ll be in your home or another location. When you’re in familiar surroundings, it reduces the stress you might be feeling about talking to someone new.

Safety…

Some folks have health, mobility, or other issues keeping them from venturing out in public for services. Teletherapy gives you access to mental health counseling without leaving your home or physically meeting in the same room.

Less waiting…

Teletherapy eliminates the time you would spend commuting from an office (and the money you would spend on fuel!), and you won’t have to be in a waiting room with other people before your appointment.

Better access…

Sometimes, a provider may not be nearby, which means a long drive to a therapy provider. Or you may have a disability keeping you from traveling. Whatever the case, as long as you’re in Tennessee, we can work together online!

It’s just as effective as in-person therapy.

Research over the past 20 years has shown that online therapy (for individual and couples therapy) is as effective as traditional, in-person therapy.

Online therapy meets the person where they are in their more natural environment.

Establishing trust can be more accessible when a person is in a familiar and comfortable environment. It can also be beneficial to those struggling to leave their home.

Like in-person therapy, treatment is tailored to the person.

Before our first session, I will send you a link to an online portal to complete the necessary forms. From there, you will receive a link to join a secure, encrypted video therapy call. That’s it!

Here are some tips to improve your experience…

Keep distractions to a minimum by closing open tabs on your computer, turning off phone notifications, and asking roommates or family members for quiet time.

Give yourself a minute or two before and after sessions to get ready for the appointment by taking a few breaths and noticing how you’re feeling (rather than jumping directly into the session right after work or some other activity).

Talk with your therapist about how online therapy is going. Good or bad, these discussions can greatly benefit your work together.

Check your equipment before your session! Ensure you have a strong Internet connection and that your audio/video is turned on.

It’s easy to get started!

You don’t have to worry about the drive time or getting stuck in traffic.

Online therapy meets you where you are literally. No more excuses. The same trusted results but in the comfort of your own home.

Through our work together, we build resilience, learn to manage stress, and enjoy a more peaceful and satisfying life.
